A Prince Flees Adversity & Finds Adventure

Buy Tickets $10 - $15 $30

Love is never easy, but it's especially difficult if you're a character in a Shakespeare play. Just ask the dashing young Prince Pericles, who's angling to marry the neighboring kingdom's Princess Hesperides. As usual, there's a catch: In this case, her father will only let his daughter marry a suitor who can solve a riddle of his creation. When Pericles puts his mind to the puzzle, he uncovers a coded message bearing a dark secret about the royal family, one which will put his life in danger if he speaks up. Instead, Pericles flees the city, abandoning the princess and carrying a burden of guilt as he embarks on a series of comic, tragic and romantic misadventures throughout the world. Portland's Artists Repertory Theatre hosts the world premiere of Pericles Wet, a contemporary reimagining of Shakespeare's Pericles, Prince of Tyre by celebrated playwright Ellen Margolis.
