For those who prefer not to make the hike, there is a beautiful park'at the base of Beacon Rock suitable for strolling and nature gazing. Next, visit Carson Hot Springs, a historic bath house-style hot springs, where you will soak in individual clawfoot tubs. Enjoy lunch before returning to your hotel.

    We'll begin your private'tour with a'10am pick up at your hotel, and head out of town to the Columbia River Gorge.

    After pausing'along the way to look at scenic viewpoints, we'll stop to stretch our legs about an hour into our trip with a hike up'Beacon Rock, a'basalt column sticking straight out of the Columbia River.'Beacon Rock is a steep climb - 848 feet in less than a mile. But the grade is surprisingly gentle, with plenty of places to catch your breath and enjoy the view. A good portion of the hike has'handrails and a sturdy boardwalk trail that switchbacks all the way to the top of the mountain.'

    Along the way, the trail winds in and out of trees. You'll enjoy views up and down the mighty Columbia River.'Even on foggy days, the views are interesting and the fog can add to the mystique of the trail.'

    Riddell Lake, accessible via a wide trail-head at the base of Beacon Rock is'a nice option for folks who might not want to venture up to the summit,'with interesting views.

    After your hike, visit Carson Hot Springs Resort (own expense), complete with an authentic bathhouse, cozy accommodations, and a relaxing atmosphere. Find yourself immersed in the natural beauty of Washington State as you reawaken your senses and find comfort in the traditional practice of taking the waters.

    Lunch (own expense) will be at a cafe in the nearby town of Carson or Hood River. Return to your hotel at around 4pm.
